Get In Your Core

Two fascial maneuvers that switch on your core and ease the load on your jaw, so you finally stop losing it over the dishwasher being loaded wrong, again!

So, the mouth guard… I’m glad you have one because it protects your teeth. I had them for 20 years. And in that time, I never asked why I was clenching in the first place, and I wonder, have you?

Here’s what I see in my work. A lifetime of somatic shaping from your family, peers, institutions, media, food culture and politics teaches your body how to hold itself. Remember when Mom commented on your belly, and you’ve been sucking it in ever since you were twelve? That changes how your core stabilizes you, physically and energetically. And your jaw, maybe holding all of the energy of the words you wanted to say to mom, but couldn't, and now you struggle to speak what's true for you.

There are many reasons your deep core switched, or why your jaw is processing at night - and they all probably have something to do with a survival pattern. What is certain, is the two are connected. Your deep core switched off to protect you, and a pattern of your jaw picking up the slack as a backup stabilizer developed.

Sorry, jaw.

And thank you, jaw!

In this free guide you’ll start to understand the jaw-core connection and work closer to the root of physical and

emotional stability.

  • Release your diaphragm. Your breath drops lower and your jaw lets go. I do this all the time, in line at Sainsbury’s or lying in bed watching Netflix.

  • Activate your core. Rise up on your toes, bend your knees and wobble. I linked a song for you for the times it’s needed. This is go-to for me; I love feeling my core switch on.

  • Check in. I guide you through the sensations and energy to tune into once you’re done.

  • You can do this every morning while you make a cup of tea (coffee for me).
